During the year different special markets take place, some of them directly linked to certain products: peppers, beans, T-bone steak, mushrooms, sweets or bream. These are great chances to see, smell, buy and of course, enjoy the best of our cuisine.
January
Tree Day
2025. January 25
Tolosa.
In addition to the usual food market, nurseries from all over the Basque Country exhibit all types of trees, shrubs, plants, and seeds: from fruit trees to forest plants such as beech and oak, and ornamental plants.
March
Be! Weekend on Pastoral Culture
2025. March 28-30
Berastegi
Berastegi is a landscape born of pastoralism. This festival includes visits to shepherds’ huts, cheese tastings, cheese and wool workshops for children, a fair, music, visits to a cheese factory, and a tour about pastoral culture.
May
Aralar Pastures Opening
May 1
Larraitz – Abaltzisketa.
May 1 is a big and festive day on the Larraitz peak. Around 20,000 animals begin their ascent to the pastures of the Aralar Natural Park. In addition to the constant parade of animal herds, there are stalls selling artisan products, txikitixa (small wines), and poetry.
Local Meat Fair
2025. May 15-18
Tolosa
The celebration of meat and grilling, where grilled ribeye steak is the star product. Grillers from around the world prepare different types of roasts and serve them in portions. The Tinglado also becomes a large dining room where you can sample the traditional txuleta menu prepared by Tolosa grill masters.
June
Cider Championship
Tolosa.
As part of San Juan festivities, the prestigious cider contest takes place, where around 20 cider houses take part. There’s the chance of tasting all the ciders, as well as cider chorizo and cod pintxos.
White Wine Fair

The White Wine Fair offers the opportunity to taste different wines accompanied by pintxos.

Beer Festival
Villabona.
A summer event to enjoy a wide variety of beers, Frankfurt style sausages and knuckle

Txakolí Fair
2025. September 13
Amasa, Villabona.
Txakolin Eguna (Txakolí Day) is held in the Amasa neighborhood, where some thirty wineries specializing in txakolí gather. The txakolí tasting is usually accompanied by pintxos.

Tolosa Goxua, Sweets Fair
2025. October 25.
Tolosa.
An event that brings together the main artisanal sweet producers of the Basque Country: cakes, pastries, biscuits, chocolates, bonbons… Tolosa’s four artisan bakeries—Aradulce, Eceiza, Rafa Gorrotxategi, and Ibañez-Gozona—are serving up a special treat.

Mycological Fair
2025. This year it won’t be held.
Tolosa.
Mycological days to deepen knowledge about mushrooms. Courses, mushroom and toadstool pintxo tastings, pintxo competitions, talks, and even a party with concerts and a great atmosphere will be held.

Esneki – Special Dairy Fair
2025. November 7-8
Tolosa
Cheese lovers have an unmissable event in Tolosa.
This is a gastronomic event centered around dairy products, especially cheese.
A program that includes all kinds of activities: dairy cooking classes, the 15th Basque Friesian Cow Championship (this year it will not be held for health reasons), cheese tasting… Although the main focus of this fair is on the Esneki Championship, a competition for cheeses and dairy products of all kinds produced in the Basque Country. The competition will be divided into ten categories, and the jury will evaluate the organoleptic characteristics of each product: appearance, texture, flavor, aroma, and overall assessment.

Tolosa Bean Festival
2025. November 22
Tolosa.
A big day in Tolosa. In addition to the special market, prizes are awarded for the best bean of the year and the best blood sausage. On the same day, the Euskal Jaia, the Basque Festival, is celebrated, with bean feasts by kuadrillas (groups of people dressed in traditional costumes), concerts, and a great street atmosphere. On Sunday, a large, popular bean feast takes place.
December
Special Christmas Fair
2025. December 20.
Tolosa.
Just a few days before Christmas, the Christmas market is held, bringing together stalls of all kinds: sweets, cured meats, preserves, pâtés, cheeses, drinks, pickles, handicrafts, etc. The atmosphere in the streets is more than guaranteed.
Autumn markets
From September to December, special fairs are also held in most of the towns in the region: Asteasu, Berastegi, Alegia, Amezketa, Bidania-Goiatz, Villabona, Zizurkil, Anoeta, Belauntza, Leaburu… You will find typical products and handcrafted goods, crafts and in some cases, livestock.
