Tolosaldea
Nature
Tolosaldea will experience a unique event on 12 August 2026: an almost total solar eclipse.
Solar eclipses are astronomical phenomena in which the Moon, positioned between the Sun and the Earth, obscures the light of the Sun on the planet. A total eclipse occurs when the Moon obscures 100% of the Sun, and although the eclipse in August 2026 will not be total in Tolosaldea, it will be 99.85% total in the north of the region and 99.95% total in the south, with 99.9% totality in Tolosa.
This eclipse will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, as the last one that darkened Tolosaldea almost entirely was in 1905 and the next one will not be until 2059.
The event will begin at 19:31:58, reaching its peak at 20:27:34, and ending at 21:15:26 with sunset (all times are local).
