Tolofolk 2026

2026-04-09 - 2026-04-12 Tolosa Concert
From April 9th to 12th, the sixth edition of Tolofolk, a music festival bringing together folk musicians and groups, will take place. With the aim of promoting popular culture, it has organized six performances:

April 9th.

7:00 PM, Plaza Verdura.

Neønymus (Silberius de Ura) and Amaia Elizaran.
The originality of Neønymus's music lies in his use of the voice. He creates vocal lines directly, chords, or short counterpoint phrases, combining them with technology (loops), small musical instruments, and unusual instruments (bones, tubes, stones, combs, bells, etc.). He presents an emotional journey from prehistory to the present day. He will be accompanied by the Tolosa-born dancer Amaia Elizaran on the stage in Plaza Verdura.

April 10th.

7:00 PM, Plaza Verdura.

Joya
The duo formed by Iker Álvarez and Aitor Urquiza champions the living spirit of the txistu (Basque flute) and traditional music. They explore new uses for the txistu, combining it with a drum, bombete (a type of drum), ttun-ttun (a small drum), tambourine, Indian shruti box, glockenspiel, guitar, mandolin, and other unusual instruments. The voice of Biscayan singer María Ereña will also be featured on stage.

10:30 PM, Frontón (Basque pelota court).

DJ Makala
The Zarautz-based DJ and music producer Mikel Unzurrunzaga Schmitz will offer a performance featuring diverse musical genres from around the world.

April 11th.

12:00 PM, in the streets.

Kalepoza (street performance)
The Txaranga de Las Flores (a brass band), txistularis (Basque flute players), members of the Huarte Jota School...

8:00 PM, Plaza Nueva (new square).

Mercedes Peon
She is one of the symbols of Galician oral tradition and folk music. Through her research and musical projects, she emphasizes the transmission of traditional music and customs, always in harmony with contemporary touches. She was a nominee for Best Original Score at the 2025 Goya Awards; she also received the National Music Prize in 2008.

April 12th.

7:00 PM, Plaza Verdura.

Antton Valverde
He is one of the leading figures in the Basque Country. For years, Valverde has set many old poems and verses to music, primarily accompanied by piano.
