Leaburu-Txarama

Mapa Tolosa

A village on top

Leaburu-Txarama is a small village divided in two neighbourhoods: the rural, cosy Leaburu, on a hill with beautiful views, and the industrial Txarama, on the Araxes valley.

Sunsets on the park

Leaburu is well known for the relaxing atmosphere. Plenty of people from the area come for a walk or to play Basque pelota at the fronton court. Having unobstructed views, the sunset from the park opposite the fronton court is spectacular on sunny days.

San Pedro church

With rectangular floor, ashlar walls, groin vault and an interesting baptismal font inside. The houses are located around it.

San Sebastian chapel

Located on the entrance to Leaburu, next to the Gaztelu intersection. On 20th January a mass and dances take place. One of the most popular trails of the area passes through here: the one called Zazpibide, that leads to an intersection of seven paths.

Baratzondo farmhouse

Belongs to Zubelzu family, dedicated to the Ibarra Piparra (pepper) production, it’s a very special building. The surrounding area is very beautiful in June and August in particular, when it gets an intense colour thanks to the pepper plants bearing their fruit.

Txarama

In this neighbourhood we can see the remains of Tolosa’s paper industry. There’s an abandoned paper mill, althought most of the engineering used for the exploitation of the water of Araxes river that is on the surroudings still remains. Nowadays plenty of people go there fishing, and in summer even to have a bath on the dam.
