Qué ver en Orexa
Basque culture can be felt in every corner of Orexa. In its square, farmhouses made of stone and masonry surround the Parish of Santa Cruz, a Renaissance temple that sits next to the Segoretxe house and its 1850 sundial. Local pride is personified in the Sculpture of Orixe, dedicated to the poet Nicolás Ormaetxea, whose verses invite visitors to keep the unique spirit of the village alive.
Orixe sculpture
Sculpture of the poet Nicolas Ormaetxea «Orixe», in which one of his verses is mentioned: «…geroak esan beza: erri bat izan zan, edota aire emaiogun untan iraun dezan» (let the future say: it once was a town, or let’s give it air so it continues to be one)
Parroquia de Santa Cruz
16th century church, with a Reinassance style interior. Next to the church, at Segoretxe house, there's a sundial from 1850.
