The ‘other’ piglet capital

Small rural village located between Uzturre and Erroizpe mountains, in the narrow Zelai river valley. With farmhouses at both sides of the road different types of seasonal vegetables and fruit are cultivated. But historically native strewberry and cherry types have stood out on markets. Nowadays it’s aslo known thank to piglet.

Town Hall

On one side of the road this beautiful building made of wood and brick is located. There’s a wooden coat of arms of the villageon the facade.

Lapatza house

Huge ancestral house on the river bank, where in the past the Royal road to Navarre went through, and visible from the distance. The Barroque façade has a large coat of arms. The marquesses of Ularga had it built in the 17th century.

Square

Meeting point for locals. Here we can find Iriarte house, 17th century building where Iriarte restaurant is located on the ground floor, known for serving locally raised piglet.

San Andres church

In front of the town hall, small building from the 16th century. With Barroque style tower and Romance façade. Includes a main chapel, choir and arcade.

San Sebastian chapel

The first time this small and humble chapel was mentioned was in 1551. Built at marchioness Lapatx’s request. With a porticoed space at the entrance with wooden gate; and Barroque altarpiece.
